I'm more of a pragmatic than pessimist. When Marvel stops with the sales gimmicks, I'd find their Diamond sales rankings more believable.

comiXology's bestseller list is probably the best gauge for actual reader demand for single issues (albeit, only good for one week and a bit skewed towards female-led titles). Interesting observation, the weekly Bleeding Cool bestseller lists actually tend to mimic the comiXology rankings.

And yes, DC's lenticular variants are absolutely sales gimmicks, too. One difference being they're open to buy and they don't require retailers to buy a minimum of x copies in order to qualify as Marvel variants often do.

Blue is dropping faster than Gold. EXM #2 also dropped to 24th place.

I didn't expect this. I think that both series should drop equally fast (because both "1" were good).

They should drop equally, but everyone bought more X-Men Gold due to the controversy, unfortunately.
I’ve just published my very first work on ‘Archive of Our Own’, under the same name as here. It is the first chapter of ‘I Am My Own Best Friend ~ An Emma Frost Road Trip’, which focuses on Emma between the events of IvX and Secret Empire, including the White Queen going on a road trip, to try and have fun!

You can read the story here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/15795663

I hope you enjoy it as much I did writing it!

I voted that Gold will be the most popular so I am happy with that. (but only slightly more than Blue).
and not because of controversy but because they heard about this book

    Ambaryerno:
    thanks.
I thought that they have better sales. ANAD had better numbers. Etraordinary had 134 000. All New Wolverine 119 000(if I remember correctly).
It looks like Astonishing 1 will have less than 90 000... (because many people don't have knowledge about this book).

I thought Marvel was going to start putting adverts (commercials) before their films about their comics: SE ResurrXion etc.. to get movie goers more interested yet I didn't see any before Gotg 2... it's a good idea too.

X-Men Blue is doing even worse than EXM and UXM v4 and X-Men Gold is barely doing better despite the "classic" cast. This is a disaster relaunch as a lot of us predicted.

Probably why Blue #2 went to reprint already, and Gold #2 didn't. Matter of fact, Gold #2's the only one that hasn't yet, to my knowledge.

Uh, don't reprints mean that they didn't print enough copies the first time? That implies that Blue is actually more successful than Gold, whose first issue can count a lot of extra sales due to the Syaf controversy - sales which won't translate to the book going in people's pull boxes.

    Nah, that's an exaggeration.

i would be happier with blue if they get rid of the O5. it's tired at this point. i want my Cyclops back, not some whiny teenage version of him. i'm giving blue a try, probably a story arc or two, but i can't see myself buying it much longer because i hate the O5

When it comes to comics sales, nothing much is these days... context is important.
