Gaston replaces Senator Armstrong

Gaston abruptly switches places with Senator Armstrong. At this point in the timeline, Raiden is a few months away from beginning his return rampage. Everybody in the MGS Universe believes Gaston to be Senator Armstrong, and those in on Armstrong's plans are strongly inclined to believe anything weird Gaston says is just Armstrong developing the facade of an eccentric manly man's patriotic senator.

Gaston's protestations and confusion are taken as a request for re-briefings on the plan and status reports. How do the various events unfold once Raiden begins his rampage?

Gaston has nanomachines son.

Aide: "Our operations are succeeding, Armstrong,
Proceeding with nary a hitch,
We're only seeing resistance among,
Those Maverick sons-of-a-bitch!
EXCELSIUS can take to the field now,

Gaston: "No one feeds like Gaston,

No one's incredibly staining their tweeds like Gaston!
No one here can recall my nomenclature,
And they keep telling me I'm Armstrong!"

Aide: "Gosh Senator, are you feeling okay?
It's unlike you to pretend to be French,
But it's all clearly part of a political play,
To see Americans become Ubermensch!
Soon everyone will be self-determined, Armstrong,
And you'll never again be so bored,
You just have to take care of some vermin, Armstrong,
In the form of a cyborg, with sword!"

Gaston: "No one can run like Gaston,
No one has guns like Gaston's, (*smooches bicep*)
No one has any idea what's going on - like Gaston!
The doctors have filled me with Nanomachines,
And the urge to call everyone 'Son'!"
