Milla Jovovich was cast as the Blood Queen. Mixed feelings.

She feels a little lightweight for a Mignola villain, can you picture her pulling this off?

She's a great actress though. How can anyone have a problem?

Yeah, I think she could do it. She really has very strong features so visually she'll look great and she definitely has a definite toughness to her so she's good there too.

    Is she though?

Look, I love The 5th Element as much as anyone, but what else has she done that's been good? Has she been in a single other good movie?

I like the casting of Milla Jovovich. A lot.

I think she singlehandedly holds up the Resident Evil flicks, plus I liked (the Moebius inspired) Le Cinquième Élément both as The Messenger: Joan of Arc pulp fiction piece pretty good.

I think I particularly like her for this movie due to appearing butch, stunning, with being over forty years old, like as such she'd make any heathen Warmongering Witch Goddess dreamy.

Well, uh... I like the casting of McShane at least!

Don't know the actress personally but seems they are going in a very different approach to this character.

Great actress! Great casting news. Not sure it'll be that different an approach though based on the information we have, which is that Sasha Lane is cast as Alice. She could believably be of Irish descent, have been kidnapped as a child, saved, and meet Mr. Boy again when they're both older and wiser. What else is there?

Great news. I hope the tone is closer to the source this time around.

Why have they cast a white Englishman as a Japanese American character?

Is this movie under some sort of curse where every hopeful bit of news is directly followed by a horrible bit of news?

Yeah, this is pretty disappointing. There's no excuse for this.
