I haven't had a chance to read the issue yet, but Lana first became Insect Queen back in 1965; she was even a reserve member of the Legion of Superheroes. i'm not sure how it works currently, but she's always had a connection so it only makes sense to bring it up now. She was the first Insect Queen - Rebirth is all about going back to character roots.
