Yesterday, as it seemed like support for my cover was growing, I began to think about cover ideas. Last time, we had a pretty specific contest, so I wanted to pick a more open broad affair for a change of pace. Its spring time and we are in the middle of May, summer is coming but its still cold outside sometimes. May is know for May day, Mother's day, Maypoles. Flowers and druids. People dancing around throwing their hands up in the air like they just don't care. And cake. May represents the last big hurrah of spring. So lets call this week's contest -
May Day!
"May Day is a public holiday usually celebrated on May 1. It is an ancient northern hemisphere spring festival. It is also a traditional spring holiday in many cultures. Dances, singing, and cake are usually part of the celebrations that the day includes."
So some potential cover topics for May Day are:
-Whatever speaks spring to you
-Love
-Dancing (extra points for dancing around a Maypole, perhaps?)
-Flowers
-Singing
-Cake
-Springtime celebrations
For those who wish to be different - I sympathize - you can use the other meaning of May Day, a distress call. The origin of that word is actually French, m'aidez, meaning help me. So if you want to post someone in distress calling for help, that will be acceptable. Bonus points for someone celebrating spring, eating cake, dancing, and calling for help all at the same time!
Here is a cover to get this party started:
