Agreed. I mean, wiping Painkiller's memory clean of everything from his old life so he could go and kill his own mother with no trace of recognition or emotion? That is just nine different levels of sick and wrong and messed up. When even an otherwise remorseless SOB like Odell's right-hand meta (who ironically used the word "like a curse," to quote Jefferson himself, or more like a slur to me) raised objections to that plan, that spoke volumes. My guess now is that Odell's gonna send Painkiller after Jennifer next if Jennifer doesn't start playing ball or to get leverage over Jefferson and Lynn, and Jennifer's powers might short out the control chip in his brain, at which point, cue shock, horror, shame, guilt, grief, and so on . . . then a classic roaring rampage of revenge where Odell and the ASA (finally) get theirs. Wishful thinking, I suppose, but I'm just that mad at this point, and speaking of, didn't Whale reveal last episode that the ASA's operations in Freeland were sanctioned by the President of the United States? Wonder what kind of powder keg is gonna be unleashed if that ever gets out.

If the Markovians present themselves as more tolerant of metahumans it might work. Of course, that doesn't have to be true, it just has to be something the metahumans believe.
