Tom Hardy has been cast as Eddie Brock in Sony's Venom. The studio tweeted an image of Hardy in a Venom shirt, confirming that he has taken the part.

Love Hardy. One of my favorite actors. Think he would have been an AWESOME Agent Venom.. but I'll settle to see him as Eddie Brock.

I can definitely see Hardy as Brock, so strong casting on that front. He's definitely got the build for it .

It's also kind of funny to see him move from playing Bane to playing Venom .

Though it's a shame he and Holland probably won't get the chance play off each other...

Still probably does in the sense that in an alternate universe, a guy got Spider-Powers by having an alien symbiote bond to him, and he is that universe's equivalent of Spider-Man.

I thought this had to be fake news when I heard about it. There was no way something this awesome could actually happen. But it did. This is really happening. I never knew how much I wanted to see Tom Hardy play Venom in a movie before now. And it's coming out around Halloween no less. There's just too much about this to love.

I went to see this and i walked out half way through the film in disgust, how is this thing making money? I mean i'm not even a Venom fan and i felt this was a terrible representation and i think Hardy (one of my fav actors) really tried to sell this but i just couldn't for the life of me finish this. The effects looked cheap and dialogue between Eddie and Venom was just awful, if people like this i will accept it but i really hope there are no more sequels...but i really doubt i will get my wish.

Tom Hardy's a great choice to play Brock/Venom, it just really sucks he'll be stuck with this film.

Again, like many others have said, you can't have a Venom origin movie without Spider-Man, it makes no sense. Unless you decide to completely skip the origin, which at this point would probably make even less sense.
