Default "Re: Creators" with western characters

For those not familiar with it, the premise of Re: Creators is that fictional characters start appearing in our world, with their powers and abilities (which defy the laws of reality as we know them - one character has speculated that this could result in a breakdown of reality). To the point I've seen their appearance/abilities seem to be controlled by the collective subconscious - attempts by creators to alter the characters' stories or appearances once they appear have failed, and one character speculates that this is the cause.

What if this happened to western characters? How would they react? No "No Fourth Wall" characters like Deadpool, please, since that defeats the purpose.

By western characters, don't you usually mean from "North American" or "British" media? Yeah everytime someone mentions "western" to designate an entire category of characters being discussed, i can't help but keep asking this question.

No comment on the topic though.

Maybe you should make a thread about it.

There are already stories that do this, but usually not on a crossover scale like this.

I like to think most superheroes would be true to their heroic nature and take it all in stride, while most villains would try to find some way to take advantage of the situation. Cartoon characters wouldn't care and would keep being wack-a-doos, to the detriment of normal people's health. Lots of mundane characters... it would be hard to say, but I imagine they would get lost in the shuffle of society.

Might be fun to speculate what it would be like if our own characters came to life. :P

The first thing that comes to mind is that, since it's the Collective Subconscious of, presumably, all living people, some characters from previous generations get a modern update if they have had more modern versions. So you probably have a Sherlock Holmes who behaves like Robert Downey, Jr. But, in essence, I would "imagine" that characters are generally what they were portrayed to be in the majority of fiction about them. Movie and television versions would certainly be the most likely since those would be the strongest image of many characters to people today.

The characters that by their nature are detrimental to reality as we know it would presumably be included as well, which doesn't end well for the rest of us. As a minor example, Acathla sucks everything into hell just by having his mouth open. Without a handy plot device curse on him and the trigger to his dormancy standing right at hand, the world is pretty well boned.

Its not going to help having several Q running around, either. That by itself causes reality to break down.

And we know someone is going to try and cast the Giga Slave.

Or Benedict Cumberbatch. Which begs the question: Could multiple versions of the same character coexist?

If it's determined by 'popular' perception, then Batman coming into our world is basically Batgod, and he manages to stop the Giga Slave, Q, etc because "He's Batman and he's unstoppable" seems to be the 'popular' perception.
Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

I dunno, "Batgod" may be a comic book fan meme, but would not the vast majority of people aware of Batman be more familiar of him through the movies? Is it version that's seen the most print, or the average public opinion of the masses?

After which he reveals that he's really ALL STAR BATMAN, who did all that because he felt like it. He then turns into YELLOW BATDICK... and everything ends badly.

"Popular Batman" is Adam West or Christian Bale. Maybe Batfleck or Animated, but definitely nothing based in comics.

Well, Powerhouse would be really pissed off at what All-New, All-Different Marvel did to his favorite characters. DC: Rebirth might just confuse him.

Lord Bloodskull would try to warn everyone of the zombie invasion, only to get locked up for being a revenant himself, then have to fight his way out.
