Huh. Well, this one chunk of Youtube comments section (started by one "Obey Rostipher") had me second-guessing.
Motorhead covering Metallica and it makes perfect sense that Lemmy's version actually better seeing as Metallica was heavily influenced by Motorhead.

While I don't know that anyone from the band has ever said it out loud, it was supposedly this film. No telling how true that is. Red Hot Chili Peppers do appear in the film. Folks used to figure they took the slot Mike was describing...

Back in the 80's fear of Satanism was a real thing. There were certain people who were seeing the Devil everywhere in pop culture and Heavy Metal music was an obvious target. Ozzy and Preist had lawsuits filed against them in a couple of high profile cases after a couple of kids killed themselves and "This music is killing our kids" was a rallying cry among some people. This song ( among many) was a reaction against such claims.
