You never heard of The New Saints John? They were the victims of one of the worst examples of corporate sponsorship in football history!

Based in Oswestry and originally called Llansantffraid F.C., they were bought by the company Total Network Solutions in 1997 and renamed as such. For a decade they were known as Total Network Solutions F.C. or T.N.S. for short in a blatant example of sponsorship going way too far in football. If memory serves me correctly they may have played your lot in a Champions League qualifier.

The club are also infamous for being the victims of an on-air joke by Jeff Stelling on Sky. After a T.N.S. win one Saturday afternoon Stelling remarked that 'They'll be dancing on the streets of Total Network Solutions tonight!' on Soccer Saturday .

The club now go by the slightly less heinous name of The New Saints F.C., retaining the T.N.S. initials.

Shows how much I follow the Welsh league I guess LOL.

Anyhow, in a strange coincidence today I was at my Mum's today as she was watching ''Street Auction'' (or whatever it's called) and one of the things sold was three autographed photographs of Manchester United players - Wayne Rooney, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Jaap Stam. They went for a total of £76 if anyone is interested.

Just thought I'd mention that LOL.

I do actually have a signed United shirt. I've never been too interested in that sort of thing but an ex-girlfriend bought me it one year for a birthday.

It's from the 2003-2004 season squad, meaning that it's been graced by club legends such as Eric Djemba-Djemba and Kleberson . Van Nistelrooy signed it though, Cristiano Ronaldo also.

A few Welsh teams are playing in the Europa League qualifiers tonight.

    Bala Town v FC Vaduz
    Lyngby BK v Bangor City
Connah's Quay Nomads v HJK Helsinki

Bala and Bangor currently losing 1-0, and Connah's Quay are 0-0 at the mo.

Just noticed Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Daniel Nardiello are playing for Bangor!

I'll have to check the results, I believe there were Scottish and Irish teams involved as well? As for Taylor-Fletcher and Nardiello, that's a blast from the past.

Got a chance to check the Europa League Qualifiers results yesterday and Rangers, Cork and Shamrock got good results as far as the ''home nation'' countries are concerned. St Johnstone lost 2-1 but given that it's only 2-1 they still have a chance though I think Derry City are out having lost 6-1.
