I really like the new design. Looking forward to Batgirl for the first time in a LONG time.

Instead of ripping off the Stephanie Brown Batgirl series, they should just hire back Bryan Q. Miller to write a new Stephanie Brown series. I hate this news. I hate 4Chan for getting my hopes up.

Like the idea of a lighter tone. I agree with catbatfan: get Bryan Q Miller back! Not liking the new costume...

Yeah I agree this sounds too much like what a Steph book should be like, but I guess I'm done crying over spoiled milk at this point. If Steph has a lead role in Gotham Academy, it will be all good.

Brian Q Miller is too busy with Smallville and TV work.

And lol you should know better than to trust 4chan. They post this kind of bullshit all the time. Bleeding Cool they are not.

    This looks fantastic.

Mark Doyle, serious props, the Batbooks are looking the best they've been in a while.

Editorial mandate grim & gritty for Simone. Once she's bounced, then light & fluffy is great for the new guys.

"Elements of Veronica Mars"; I liked that show and it could be rather dark. Makes me wonder what he means.

I dislike the look of the new costume. I don't know if it will grow on me. I don't know if Babs Tarr is the right artist for this book.
Was it ever said to be a mandate?

Because going lighter in tone means it's a rip-off.

In fact, before the Stephanie Brown series, there was never ever a Batgirl story that wasn't dark. Ever.

Default Simone Leaves "Batgirl" in the Hands of Stewart, Fletcher & Tarr

As Gail SImone exits "Batgirl," Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher and Babs Tarr prepare to tell the next chapter in Barbara Gordon's life.

Remember when people were all "Mike Marts is gone, DC is screwed now!"

I doubt it was. Gail writes dark books, she almost always has. She probably thought Babs telling jokes would be frivolous in her book about victimization.

Except for a whole lot of them.

EDIT: Wait, my sarcasm detector just sprung to life! Sorry.

I don't care what happened before. The Stephanie Brown series is the gold standard for Batgirl.

Finally a Batgirl I can read.

How's Stewart's rap sheet? Does he got the chops for this?

    Color me intrigued anyway.

No, Cass Cain's series was. The longest and best Batgirl series forever and a few days more.

a Batgirl series without the tone of Saw sounds promising.

This is such a smart costume.
