As much as I want to support a writer of colour, Sabretooth is trash and I can't read a book about him.

Is this an ongoing?

I don't think it has been properly announced through a news site yet so we can't be sure, but I would assume that it is a 6-issue mini with the option of becoming an ongoing if the sales are good.
I've long speculated that Mystique will release Sabertooth during Inferno to go on a rampage, so this is good fodder for that theory.

The last time I found Sabretooth really interesting was probably the Larry Hama run on Wolverine and his solo series with Mark Teixeira illustrating. At least the 616 version. Loved him in AoA and especially his heroic sacrifice against Holocaust.

I liked him under Bunn when he formed a friendship with Monet. At time, Monet was also fighting her dark side (well, he brother), so to me, it seemed like this perfect tragic story where Monet would regain her heroic side while Sabretooh would eventually devolve into his old persona.

I hope Sabretooth is a threat again though. As a villain, he really got to me. As a hero, he's treated like a cheap heroic Logan. Def want him back as a villain.

I’ve heard great things about LaVelle, but you couldn’t get me to read a Sabretooth solo with a gun to my head. The fact that there’s been no Sabretooth appearances has been one of the best features of the Krakoa era thus far.

Hopefully anyone who reads will report back. If it's the Sabretooth we had almost 20 years ago like in Mary Shelly Overdrive, then I'd be interested.

Otherwise, HUGE PASS. because 9/10 it'll be the same incompetent, Mystique-whipped, dunderhead jobber he's been for ages now.

I hope it's a story about Sabretooth just straight up wrecking havoc on Krakoa. Meaning killing off those mutants keeping resurrection protocols active, killing off Daken and the rest of Wolverine's family, killing off a hope bunch of fodder mutants who don't matter, and if Mystique is responsible for his escape... kill her off too just because it's something he would do. Before all that tho, he should be the one to expose Xavier and Magneto about keeping Moira prisoner.
