It's closer to being a celebration of the 90s than an actual celebration of the X-Men franchise. Most of what's on it is steeped in 90s nostalgia junk with no real awareness of how not all nostalgia is good.

So that was indeed Maggotts slug on the corner of the previous image.

Somewhat amusing how Marrow is depicted doing the same "feral" crouch as X-23 not far off, given that some have in the past derided her as failed attempt at female Wolverine. Perhaps she really was an unintentional prototype of sort.

The problem is perhaps simply that the past 20 years did not feature a lot of "stand out" teams like those of the mentioned 35 years. Rather they were frequently just assembled and dissambled with no "handing over the keys" moments anymore and at random or more precisely by the preferences of the too frequently comming and going writers.

Furthermore of the teams formed, the members were primarily either those who allready filled the roster over the previous 35 years or were lifted from the satelite titles, as such allready represented with the first 35 years.

The problem is that last time the books TRIED to move in that direction, subsequent EICs came in and slammed the brakes on because they didn't want the O5+ "looking old."

That and one EIC arguing that the mutants had become too commonplace, certainly sound like the reasons for Decimination, which essentialy created a "taint" on the X-men comics that is still lingering today, since everything is still building on top of it.

It's somewhat ironic that a radical new status quo which was claimed to put the X-men "back to their roots", actualy pushed them further away from it, trapping them within the role of having to be dedicated caretakers of a dying group, harming their potential to go on wild and otherworldy adventures without constantly looking like they are neglecting their "duty".

Though arguably this was allready a problem with the big school concept too, leading to their students constantly getting harmed and making them look worse. The new status quo just transfered this to all of mutantkind.

I think it's Artie, Leach, and Doug.

The ones I can't quite figure out:

Is that Val Cooper between Mystique and Fantomex?

The character in front of Kamala? Is that Changeling?

    The one above Widget?

And then the one to the right of the GenXers... Elixir?

I think it's Changeling yes. With a side of Morph from the cartoon.
Above Widget is Maggot with Marrow on his shoulder.
I think it's Vale Cooper yes, I cannot see anyone else. Maybe Darkstar but she lacks the headband.
And that's Northstar in that manga outfit they put him when he was on a team with Angel, Iceman and Husk.

Is Revanche there? Can't find her? Or maybe he drew Betsy as CB? Can't find her either.

I also think it is Val Cooper, given what she is surrounded by Random, Mystique and Sabretooth who were all in X-Factor with Val.

And it is probably indeed Changeling.

    Above Widget is Maggot.

To the right of Generation X is Northstar. Speaking about the Generation X, are those M and Synch above Chamber? Seems strange how little space is given to them compared with others when they are actually more prominent in books than other members of their former team (not counting Jubilee).

I wonder who is the man in the middle between Mystique, Corsair and Lilandra. Is it Vulcan?

And who is the woman to the right of Magneto? I first thought it was Wanda, but she doesn't have Wanda's headdress, but seems to have fur on the cape, so I guess it is Emma. Not sure why she is flying thought.

It's unfair, considering the Astonishing and Utopia era had really nice costumes and great stories.

It's homophobic that Northstar is never included in these awesome group shots.
