I very much prefer the old one.
I can never quite figure what it is about his art that I don’t like. I grew up loving Davis and Perez and this is very much the same school of clean, smooth art. So I should love it.
His design sense is great for costumes and good for layouts too. His Hellfire Gala costumes were top notch.
But there’s just something plastic about the faces, the male characters in particular, as though they were dolls.

I think Rogue and Jean's eyes are over inked. Jean really pulls focus but maybe that is because she is the biggest change. Her eyes almost feel like they are following me.

Jubilee's glasses are more accurate and I do prefer the blue gloves in the OG piece.
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

This one is a bit more generic, but that makes sense.

He's been a favorite of mine since his first Cyclops (of ALL characters, wot ?) issue.

    Maybe it's the digital art.
All the lines are too perfect since it's not real pencils or ink are used.

That Tyke solo had an embarrassment of riches in the art department, with future Marvel superstars Russell Dautermann, Carmen Carnero and Javier Garron all working on it, not to mention the writing prowess of Greg Rucka and John Layman. I don't think the book was ever as exceptional as its creators could make it but the talent was certainly there.

I think that's true. Dauterman does digital pencils/inks now. Honestly, I like the new one better.

yup there's a huge difference from when he used to be on Thor to his most recent work. He's definitely transitioned into digital art.

I love this overall composition and what he did with Storm's hair...it looks one thousand times better than what the cartoon animation is showing.

Oh, bingo! That’s it, that’s exactly it. Thank you.
And I should have realised, I do exactly the same when I draw in Procreate, which is why my own non digital art is looser and looks different.

It was a very cool series n I enjoyed it a lot, which I never imagined saying about a Teen Cyke series, and that's a testament to the team.
(I also bought Aaron Thor for Dauterman)

It really was a great mix of story and art. I remain salty that Dauterman got sent to do Thor.

It’s interesting to compare the two. I like how he used to draw hair. Very reminiscent of Muncha.
I fell in love with and miss Dauterman's Mucha-esque art nouveau hair!
