To me he looks like Russell Crowe from ‘Gladiator’ there. I almost started chanting “Maximus, Maximus, Maximus!” Ha.

But I think the artist was actually going for Josh Brolin’s look as Gurney Halleck in ‘Dune’ to be honest. Similar hairstyle, and for some reason that panel of him and Khora feels very Dune-like to me. I think it’s the attire.

Not even close. Can't say I'm all a-flutter about the chunky lines there, but at least he's more or less on model (whatever that means these days).

That New Mutants art goes into the "Not my style but I see what you're going for and it's not the worst" -category.
Contextually, from what I've seen of the textless preview even without the script, there is story flow. And the artist knows their proportions and anatomy...huge technical plus. I just hope the writing is good.
