I know a few PhDs - they might have a point that it’s not quite the automatic signifier of intelligence you’d assume.

Academic accomplishment wouldnt necessarily equate intelligence even if intelligence in our societies wasnt arbitrarily defined by nebulous and discriminatory factors.

They give out PhD's for everything from gender studies to quantum physics. There are quite a few average intelligence people with humanities PhD's. Typically the people who get PhD's in the advanced sciences like Geophysics which Lorna did are not average.

I will put it this way you have to actually know and understand advanced calculus and deeply understand end of the line physics to get the first science PhD you listed.

You have to be a motivated writer with an argument with get a humanities PhD. There is nothing wrong of course with being average intelligence as long as you are motivated.

If she holds a doctorate in a STEM subject, she still has to have an intellect above average. 2 still seems low to me.
