Scratches? On his shirt????? Yeah, he's dying..

The jacket and ripped shirt look like Rictor's old 90's rock outfit to me. I doubt that this means he is dying.
But, with my poor prediction skills, I've probably just jinxed you.

A ripped shirt offers no information to say he's dying. It only means that he's been in a fray.

I was afraid he was gonna die at first but now not so much. That panel is from issue #2 so the "act of violence" that impacts Shatterstar on the solicit for the first issue it's not him dying.

Yep. And I still think that it looks like his old 90's look.

Well, there you go then. I didn't even realize that the panel was from issue two.

I thought so but wasn't really sure lol. You can be kinda extra sometimes... But anyways what I said(he's not dying!) it's what I thought when I saw the panel posted on twitter.

Marvel.com: Did you and the other creators on X-MEN: BLACK coordinate the storylines in any way?
Seanan McGuire: We did not! We just got our villains and swung for the fences. The Apocalypse backup story should tie things together nicely...

Translation: We did whatever the hell we wanted, and left it to someone else to try and make it fit together.

Pretty much modus operandi for Marvel. What exactly IS Editorial's job these days?

I was thinking/hoping that the Apocalypse storyline was unrelated to rest of the books.

Why would they need to coordinate? Each person got a different villain.

They could coordinate with some of the ongoing writers. Make sure that Emma lines up with what Bunn and Grace have done with her, Mystique doesn't completely contradict what's going on in Weapon X, that Magneto has the new status quo from the end of Blue.

That's the impression I got. When they say "backup story" those are always disconnected. So the writers were allowed to do what they wanted, but then there IS a different connected story running in the back. You don't need to read each black issue to understand the other one, but if you want to understand the Apoc one you need to buy them all...which is a marketing stunt instead of just making another Xmenblack: Apoc one shot.

W.I.P. from Rahzzah. Most likely part of the cover for Weapon X #26 since it wasn't shown with solicits last month.
