too bad they got the coloring of her costume wrong. Its a personal nitpick of mine but the accent is supposed to be gold, not yellow. I hate when they color it like that. I prefer it less saturated and not so bright

Pretty much this. I don't think whitewashing of Storm or Gateway was the intention. I think they used ambient lighting really badly, and that's on the colorist, but I don't think there was anything racially charged.
