Neither is Rachel's turkey-coat arm armor. Neither is Nightcrawler's blue fur or tail but she often has those when she absorbs his abilities. They are visual cues to the reader on who's powers she is using.

It's a theory, but if she's using Illyana's powers she could then be able to wield the Soulsword. It could also be Illyana using everyone else's abilities

Starting to think this may be Mr Sinister manipulating genes.

Hickman makes it seem like Sinister will play into this, and with Moira in the mix it's certain that dna will be a big factor

However, I never found Sinister compelling.. :/ I dont get him.

That's a good possibility and something we've seen Rogue do before. She's often at her best when she gets to be a multi-talented powerhouse.

And, interestingly enough, not something we've really seen her do since Mike Carey was writing her. Still doesn't explain the Soulsword, tho.

Well, we know that these are gonna be new characters. The only question is if these are descendants of the X-Men or completely separate people who can somehow access X-families' powersets.

It’s a pretty wild leap to believe a piece of armor is based on a Rachel costume she hasn’t worn in years. Also, Nightcrawler’s physical appearance used to be part of his mutation.

Is it a WILD leap though? Many others have also surmised the same thing. Given we know nothing about these characters anything could be possible.

It's not like Sinister doesn't believe in magic. He just doesn't know much about it. In fact, when he mapped out the Summers Family Tree, his first conclusions were based on cosmic events and magic since regular science says the tree is nonsense.

Hype for all the new Hickman OCs to walk around in black hoodies, meet at weird, vertically inconsistent areas to talk, and show up where the X-Men are to make extremely vague and actually meaninglessly observations about current events and their non-existent goals before teleporting away by walking into a plume of grape juice.
