Wanted to try and add a history post for Rogue early in the thread, in case anyone (like me) has trouble getting the characters sprawling backlog straight at times. This leaves out a lot of information but tried to include many of her important issues and arcs in the history recap.

1980s to 1990

Avengers Annual #10, Rogue's first appearance in a comic, she fights the Avengers here; it's established she was Mystique's protegee and previously fought Carol Danvers (Ms Marvel) and stole her powers
Dazzler #22, Rogue begins a long rivalry with mutant superhero and singer Dazzler
UXM #171, Rogue joins the X-Men despite their protests
UXM #173, Rogue proves herself to Wolverine after sacrificing herself
UXM #183, Rogue becomes conscious of Carol's memories and personality seeping into her own
UXM #185, Rogue absorbs Storm's powers in an expression of trust but Storm ends up losing them due to interference from new anti-mutant technology
UXM #221, Rogue intense rivalry with teammate Dazzler reaches a boil after she catches Alison using her resemblance to train; eventually the two reconcile for good after Dazzler risks her life to save Rogue

XMN #184, Rogue is horrified to find out Gambit in a misguided attempt to save the X-Men has gotten possessed by Apocalypse; despite attempts to bring him back, his death persona is too strong and he eventually leaves the X-Men temporarily
XMN #188, Rogue forms an ambitious X-Men squad to combat the Children of the Vault
XMN #197, Rogue encounters the Hetacomb, a being composed of billions of alien minds which she absorbs to save a town
XMN #200, Rogue's mind is struggling to house the torturous spirits from her recent absorption, meanwhile Mystique has a launched a coup-de-tat with parts of the villainous members of Rogue's team and captures her
XMN #224, Rogue had returned to the Australian outback, eventually meeting Professor Xavier who are able to help finally grant Rogue control of her abilities; Gambit and Rogue reconcile but decide to take a break from their relationship

Uncanny Avengers vol 1 # 22, Rogue is revived after reality is reset, she apologizes to Wanda and is tasked with helping to save the earth from a giant celestial by absorbing every metahuman on earth; she succeeds but permanently absorbs fellow teammate Wonder Man
Uncanny Avengers vol 3 # 1, Rogue becomes leader of the Unity Squad and is helping to track down the Red Skull who has stolen Professor Xavier's brain and abilities
Uncanny Avengers vol 3 # 19, Rogue defeats the Red Skull with Deadpools help; the two share a kiss but nothing more than that
Rogue and Gambit # 1, Rogue and Gambit are sent on the same mission which forces them to reconcile
Rogue and Gambit # 5, Rogue and Gambit's time together on the mission has reignited the sparks of their relationship and they begin to date again

I'm hoping for good things for Rogue in 2024. She's been a regular presence throughout the Krakoa era yet it never really felt quite satisfactory aside from a few instances here and there. She needs to be there AND also do interesting stuff.

Happy New Year to the sassy Southern brawler and all of her fans! I really hoped we'd see her nerf Carol in The Marvels but alas, it was not so. Hopefully she gets a good showing in 2024!

You know I always felt like the females on the X-men all had similar amounts of popularity. But lately I really do feel like Rogue is probably the most recognizable female X-men. I know some people will say Storm or others. But lately I've just been searching around and I feel like Rogue really does have her foot in general audience pop culture more than almost anyone.
