I can't think of one artist who doesn't use the same face when drawing characters. Say for instance, if you've seen how an artist draws Captain America's face, more than likely it's the same as their Superman, Bruce Wayne, Thor, etc. It's even more obvious with female characters. The only way to tell 'em apart most times is because different hairstyles or the work of the colorist.

Alan Davis has about four male and female faces/body shapes. Which is three more than most mainstream comics artists.

I cut my teeth on Asterix and The Bash Street Kids, Fat Freddie’s Cat and Love and Rockets, Mage and Omaha the Cat Dancer. It’s a superhero artist problem.

Phil Jiminez is one artist that comes to mind who tries to make his characters' faces look different. But yeah you're otherwise correct, most artists tend to draw the same faces over and over.
