Well, that's a lot of what they did actually. In Ultimate X-men, for example, we had...

- X-men vs. Magneto and The Brotherhood, plus the Sentinels
- Weapon X
- Proteus
- The Phoenix Saga, and the Hellfire Club
- X-men vs. Avengers
- Fatal Attractions (Return of the King)

... all in the first three years. And that was all under Mark Millar. It was probably the tightest the Ultimate X-men ever was honestly, then it started doing it's own thing more and more.

Bendis gave us his version of The New Mutants along with some other stuff, then we got Sinister and Apocalypse along with Cable, Bishop, Stryfe and even the Ultimate version of Onslaught in a story that just smashed a bunch of these 90s characters and concepts together in an attempt to streamline them. Some people hated it. I actually didn't, despite the fact that it fundamentally changed a lot. For example, Cable was no longer a unique character but rather a future version of Wolverine. Which made sense on some level because Rob Liefeld has gone on record as saying he created Cable to be "another Wolverine for the X-books." So, in that respect, I though it was kind of a clever take personally. And it definitely streamlined a lot of the more convoluted stuff from the 90s which is pretty divisive among fans, precisely because it's insular and convoluted.

Coloring issue likely. It's the only leg with the X-dividing the pantleg into different sections, so someone possibly mistook the side sections for open air instead of part of the leg. Admittedly they probably should have realized after they were done what it looked like.

Or maybe it's a prosthetic leg? He doesn't have one of those, does he?

I just want to see Manifold and the rest of Cable's X-men Red squad again... Thunderbird, Khora, Weaponless Zen, Wiz Kid, Cable and Manifold. Still maintain that it would be a more entertaining team than the current X-Force squad.

Ditto. I LOVE Red but it has so many characters and definitely has enough content for a second book.
