He's a character in that fighting game (Marvel Super Heroes) and the player won the round as him. It looks like Scott was Wolvie and Kurt was Spidey



It even uses the same character art. That was good on the artist bc the game came out to home consoles in 1997

I don’t think how iconic they are determined whether they got on this cover considering Escapade is there.

They did try to push her somewhat though. First making her the focus of the "post script" story of the last New Mutants series and then making her the center piece of the follow up mini series, which also ran under the New Mutant label. If memory serves the solicitations even went so far as calling her a "breakout character", as if they can fake it, till they make it.

So it's possible that some decision makers at Marvel Comics still want the character recognized as "iconic" LGBT representation character, or at least pretend she is one, hence putting her on the cover, in spite of a seeming lurkwarm to indifferent reaction by buyers and even the fanbase of the comics.

PATATO is spelled incorrectly on the bag of chips
The cat is holding a Magneto toy
Jean is likely looking at Logan's butt on the tv screen in front of them
Gambit's face is touching Rogue and he may be passed out on her....lol

It depends on the following...

1) How old is that art? Sometimes artist get commissioned to do art by companies that end up being used as covers. I know of one case where Larry Stroman did art for a book at Aftershock called the Man who F---ked time (starring a Marlon Wayans lookalike). The company used it as a variant cover and he had no idea untill I showed my copy of it. He even signed it.

2) Is that photoshopped? In other words while the happy couple maybe new art is everyone else from previous art and placed in the background.

Thus explaining costumes not matching what someone is wearing now. I want to say I have seen that America pose somewhere before.

I've always hated Rogue and Magneto's relationship in AoA. He was never de-aged in that world like he was in the 616 so the gap is significant, and she was his student who was entrusted in his care as a young teenager. It's like if Xavier had married and had a child with Jean, ick.
