"Crashed and burned" is a little harsh. While a lot of the setups didn't get a good pay-off, you also have to admire general quality of the books across the board (even though they don't really take much story risks), as well as the sheer length some writers are staying on books.

There's no Rebirth Metal Men book, so yeah, it's crashing and burning aside from what God Snyder's doing.

By the same token, the X-Men 90's hump will be a failure if they can't bring back the greatest thing of all.

Most of the long-standing writers have left or are leaving their titles and being replaced by other, new writers and the characters that were being lauded at the beginning of Rebirth are now cannon and angst fodder. Wally West and Dick Grayson, anyone?

Also, some of the writers that were on titles long-term were forced to leave without telling the stories they wanted to tell (Peter J. Tomasi) or were forced to use characters they didn't want to (Dan Abnett.) so like... Editorial over there is probably worse than here, since at least writers here still have creative freedom.

-letting heroes grow. even if he was talking about an alternate version of bruce, we know that nu52!heroes were an attempt at de-aging heroes and making them "more relatable for the new gens" which quickly became contrived and thus.....rebirth. there were other problems with the new 52 but these problems were specifically targeted towards supes and bats

De-aging wasn't the problem for the new 52. I think there's a small percentage of characters that you could say were de-aged.

I didn’t say it was ‘the’ problem but it was definitely one of them. Plus, one of the main draws for the New 52 was that the heroes was “wilder, younger, and less experienced”

Why is Rebirth crashing and burning?

It isn't crashing but it definitely plateau'd due to:

- Bendis taking over Superman so no more Super Dad and Son book, no more Supes + 1 book which were working.
- King trolled the Bat-fans too hard.
- METAL (completely screwed over both Titans books)
- Aquaman, Flash and WW starting to rehash (Ares is back, Flash pulling a Lantern Corps thingie and Arthur got kicked out again???)
- 4 dollars (lmao)

Heroes in Crisis is divisive too, because two of the major Titans got whacked.

-Have faith in the product. if it goes down, at least it happened. almost all of DC's New Age of Heroes wasn't all that well-received that it kept them from cancellation, but the titles that DID survive are hits. Silencer and The Terrifics (IIRC) are being used in other titles and are most likely getting adapted at one point or another. ofc balls were dropped with this project but the overall idea was solid

So what your saying is bendis being bendis is bad and when you change a character driven story showing how hero deal with there mental health in to identy crisis 2:kill every teen titan member and screw you Wally west fans was a bad idea.
