If the O5 memories are considered old memories so no one in the X-Office has to actually consider them when writing the characters because they don't want to, then that just emphasizes how pointless it was to add them. And neither the memories feeling old or the memories feeling fresh makes more or less sense than the other, because this is a fictional concept.

Yes, the teen romances are creepy now, almost as if they were written with the idea that the O5 would become fully independent and not square pegs forced into round holes.

That's EXACTLY what it was, they were not originally intended to be merged. When Hopeless ended his All-New X-Men run by showing a duplicate O5 in the past, it was intended that this would reveal that the time displaced O5 were AU all along. That's also why they allowed Cyclops to join the Champions (he left that team when it had a creative team change, as by that point Bunn had already started resolving the problem revealed in ANXM's finale). Bunn originally planned to end Blue by having them become the new Exiles (the Cross Time Capers arc is probably a remnant of that), but editorial made two decisions which thwarted that. Firstly, they commissioned a different Exiles series, controlled by the Avengers office. And then, they took the O5 off Bunn and had Brisson write them out in Extermination.

Don't see a problem with the O5 memory comments. The way memory works, it's possible that it can feel both recent and a long time past at the same time.

That's not the problem. In Zub's interpretation Warren broke up with teenaged Laura a few months ago, and he remembers dating this teenager as if it were yesterday.
He suddenly remembers having an intimate relationship with this girl and probably still has romantic feelings for her and she is much younger than him now.

Even if he remember like it was yesterday, it would be moot, Warren isn't going to do anything about and whatever feelings he migth have for her would banish with time, plus he has tons of Archangel and/or Psylocke angst to keep him busy

That's probably because of the changeover from All-New X-Men to X-Men Blue. Blue pretty much ignored the relationship but All-New Wolverine carried on as it was. Maybe Laura found out about Warren flirting with that cop, and dumped him? I guess with the creative teams having since shuffled again, we'll never know.
