I think Laura not having independence from the Wolvie thing is kind of the point, since she’s going by the same codename. In that respect, I don’t have a problem with her costume. Rogue’s is okay too. Jean’s, on the other hand…

They could have gone with the black and gray, which is a color scheme that works better for her.

Not as super heroic. She’s wearing yellow for the same reason Xavier had the X-men dress in bright colors initially. To make them seem more like other superhero groups and be accepted by the public. So it makes sense to me that she’d be in the brighter colors while on this team.
