    Default Action Comics #981 preview

    Written by Dan Jurgens.
    Art by Jack Herbert.
    Colors by Hi-Fi.
    Letters by Rob Leigh.
Cover A by Patch Zircher and Hi-Fi.
Cover B by Gary Frank and Brad Anderson.

When you wake up in the morning, do you rise to greet the day or do you immediately begin to plot revenge against people who may or may not have wronged you? I like to make coffee, personally.

It’s obvious Zod’s life is devoid of a proper hobby. He’s the type of person who decides to beef with Superman and Amanda Waller, of all people. How about a Rubik’s Cube, Zod? They sell them to just about everybody.

The more I see it, the more I like bearded Jor-El but-with-black-hair. Reminds me of Superman's look in Pak's run, and that's a good thing.
"They can be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you. My only son." - Jor-El

As someone who dropped SS, can someone fill me in with what Zod has been up to?
I see he's joined the already extensive "I hate Amanda Waller" club.

I really like this art. To be honest, the new Joe-El and Lara deigns just make everything seem more modern. I love all the subtle design changes, making everything feel old but new.

That art. Can we keep Jack Herbert?
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.

Waller had a kryptonite bomb implanted in Zod's head...that he removed with his heat vision.

The Jor and Lara in this look like much younger versions of the Secret Origin versions of Jor and Lara. I'm liking the design.

I don't know who this Jack Herbert is, but I'm getting a serious Ordway vibe from his work! Why the hell isn't he taking over Action instead of that guy with the cartoony, Capullo-esque style?!

Definitely feeling the Ordway-ish vibes as well. I think its the larger S Shield and the way he's drawing the upper body and Supes head. I'd lean more towards him as well than Viktor but I guess we got what we got at this point.

Herbert is a SM/WW fan, so he might be blackballed.

Seriously though, if you made me pick I'd give Zircher a slight edge but I've been a Herbert fan for a while.

He does a great job with the hair. He's had great pencils, but at Dynamite they gave him their typical, muddy colors. I'd imagine he'd make a great pair with Barrows.

Ok, one preview of his worst fear for the sinestro saga..

    Zod image is awesome.

I remember the death of superman film(I think that is this film) and one of the many clones created by luthor removed the thing that controlled him more easy..

But here, Zod was a crazy man wanting be free hurting himself..
