    Default X-Force #7 Review

Wow, this issue....SO good. Where to even start....So many great quotes in this issue.

-Cable clone rejects rather harshly Psylocke's blunt cliche flirting. "A deadman can't have friends". You fool, you don't pass up free hand outs from our ninja goddess. Heresy! Granted, his reason was that hes just a clone that dies in 24 hours, not the real cable that Psylocke wants to hit on. But still, Heresy! At least we learn the Betsey is in the mood for some no strings attached shagging.

-Domino is suffering from Cable withdraw, very sad. She gets to be badass opening the way to a portal with explosives.

-Dr. Nemesis + Marrow have a heart to heart where they learn that Marrow is just plain crazy. I think we knew this already. Nemesis also discovers that he apparently can get along with psycho Marrow. This guy sure makes the strangest friends. lol

Edit: forgot to mention Marrow has but on year to live because shes not a real mutant but has powers from some mess up chemicals. Marrow seems fine with this in a very psychotic way.

-Nenna discovers a wonderful hallucinogenic, quick, hook me up to that hose so I can dream about Rogue being freed from the nightmare that is Uncanny Avengers.

-Sugarman appears...or at least that looks to be him. How could it possibility be anyone else? lol We had dark beast appear recently so why not some Sugarman loving. Because AoA never goes out of style.

-Meme hits on Mr.FakeMcFrenchy. Its rather weird, especially with Meme being Hope (I saw that red hair, you don't fool me woman!). "There's no shame in getting lucky." Amen.

-Cable and Sugarman both become the NSA, surveillance 24/7 of everyone for any sign of trouble. CAN YOU FEEL THE IRL RELEVANCE?! Because the author is beating you in the head with it. That said, I really liked how Cable and Sugarman mirror each others words. So of creepy which is the point.

-Psylocke rubs it in that Cable rejected her. HOW DARE HE REJECT MS. NINJA GODDESS! Also, something about her not liking the lack of morality in Cable's plan, but phhhh, who care about that when Cable passed up friends with benefits status with Betsy. YOU FOOL!

-Neena gets hooked up against her will to the acid trip hose. I need that machine for myself. Neena is convinced that Cable will come for her. Awww, the feels.

-Le Pew reveals that he has a new ingenious way to relieve his Psylocke induced sexual frustrations. He can kill Cable's clones over and over again every day. Mr. Shark must be in heaven, free meals at the same time everyday!

I hope you guys didn't mind my zanny review. Also, why am I forced to do reviews. What happened to everyone else that wrote these reviews. CBR is in a sad state, theres no Captain Marvel review either. QQ

Thanks for reviewing. Loved the issue, this team is all kinds of screwed up and it makes for an interesting book. Marrow's only got a year to live apparently, hope that gets fixed, I enjoy Marrow.

Edited my post since I forgot to mention that. Rather important. Marrow is a lot of fun and I don't want her to die, that said I'm sure she'll get cured along with Cable eventually. Marrow is more in danger of disappearing if they change the X-force team/book once again. Le Sigh

This is the best X-Book on the shelves. It makes me wonder what Spurrier could do with an A-List cast and a bit of freedom. Does this comic work because of the quirky, non-headlining cast or in spite of it? Could he work such magic within the "NEXT BIG EVENT" confines of working with A-List characters? I'd love to find out.

Character interactions are superb. Each player has their own voice and motivations. I like the dialog play between the new villain and Cable near the end, which brings focus to the 'terrorist or freedom fighter' debate.

It's a much more rewarding book than most of the other safe and shallow X-Books.

This cast has more room for bad behaviour than your typical X-Men team. I don't think there's another X character that could do what Fantomex does this issue.

This does not mean I like Fantomex.

Absolutely. These characters are NOT interchangeable with the story. They ARE the story. And that's something sorely missed in most X-Books these days. I just wonder if he would be able to do something as compelling with higher profile characters and their inherent obligations the franchise.

Either way, this is a gem of a book.

After each issue I get to see more and more of the big picture that's been set up for this series and the detail that goes into the planning and execution of this story tells me Spurrier could handle an event. But would he be allowed the freedom to create such an event? Who knows.

I'm not sure he could get away with as much with A-listers like Wolverine, Storm, etc. Mainly because they appear in so many other books. That's part of why they bore me so much these days. Too safe. This book is freakin' awesome, though. I wonder how long before everyone realizes that? Hopefully sites like CBR, Newsarama, and others will start doing more interviews with Spurrier and things like that to promote the title.

On another note, what's the over-under on Betsy getting some Cable before the series ends? I like their friendship a lot, and the sexual element doesn't seem like it would detract from that at all. I like how flustered Nathan was when she confessed that she was indeed coming onto him. Pretty amusing seeing his cool exterior completely shattered for a minute.

I've always likened Betsy to the girl who likes sex, isn't shy about it, and has frequent encounters, not because of anything mental. She likes the thrill. In CB she had two dudes, I think in 616 she might have even shagged colossus, maybe turning his powers off since he couldn't. I think she likes the feelings without the attachments. Nothin wrong with that.

Marrow's finite lifespan is the source of her characterization. To have her not die, well, what's her point and why is she interesting? Bones jutting out of odd places loses its initial thrill quite quickly.

She's a tomboy, highly agressive and not that bright. Marrow is not the typical X-Woman and that makes her worthwhile. She was also raised a Morlock and has a different perspective on mutant/human relations.

Mostly I just miss the Morlocks

Marrow serves as a nice foil to Psylocke. Betsy is under some delusion that she can quit killing people and still be a wet-works commando like this was some type of anime. On the other hand, Marrow is all about living life likes its an 80's action movie, the more explosions and violence the better. Shes not nice but I don't think shes a bad person.

I know not everyone can be as spectacular as Pixie but try to keep an open mind. Don't be a hater, pixie_solanas. :P

I think she is actualy pretty safe.

The stuff they gave her is called Morituri process. It gives a person random super powers based on some unkown code in their DNA, it works a lot like the X-gene in that regard. The only problem with the process is that the human body eventualy rejects it, which causes the powers to go haywire and kill the empowered person.

So the whole dying thing is caused because the body does not want the super powers. However in Marrow's case we have an odd situation that does not apply to all the previous subjects of the treament. Marrow was born with super powers. He entire body was essentialy created around them. With her X-gene missing however, her body should in theory miss something essential for it. So there is a fair chance that her body will never reject the Morituri process but embracing it as replacement for her X-gene.

The problem with this speculation i admit, is that in the series Strikeforce Morituri nobody had super powers they were born with or powers from other source. So we don't know if these can also have any effect on the rejection.

Also her baby "died" so it might have taken the leathal aspect of the process with it. That is if her baby really died! DUM DUM DUUUUM!!!

Talking about her. We just got another mystery from her meeting with Nemesis. Where did she gain a knowledge and interest for coffee? Maybe her short time as university student?

X-men comics often have the sense of a lot of "friends with benefits" going on. So yeah a flirt with Cable, doesn't seem that odd.

However i wonder how Cable will react once his prime version got cured and he wakes up to see what various 1 day incarnations of himself did.

Psylocke is to cable as Logan is to storm.
