Substitute Magneto with Nightcrawler then you have this polling charaters. Netmarble really knows what X-men fans want.

Cyclops, Wolverine and someone depended on the writer, Storm for most of the time.
I'd say Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine is the real trinity though.

In dog days, all we need is Frost.
Wolverine, Cyke and Jean are my picks. I could probably swap out Storm for Jean but my gut told me go with the red head.
Wolverine, Cyclops and Jean. I don't like leaving Storm out, but I feel Jean has a much bigger impact on the franchise than her, even when she's dead. But truth be told, there's no trinity. They should be a quartet.
Wolverine,Storm,Cyclops
X-Men Forever
I think you asked for an iconic trinity such as DC trinity (Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman).
So, it's easy and the results are confirming it: Cyclops, Wolverine & Storm.
Funny thing, neither of them is a favorite of mine
Interesting thing, the first two positions are males, but positions 3rd to 5th are female --if the poll were for a quintet, women would beat men. Apart from the duality Cyke/Wolvie, people seem to be much more interested in female characters (or, at least, there are a handful of very powerful female characters).
cyclops and wolverine are easy, after that it gets tough. storm and jean are very close, but i gave the nod to jean because she is more important in the movies and shows. comics-wise, she's also a major part in the biggest storyline of the history of the comics
I find Charles, Magnus and Emma missing...

I still voted for Storm, Rogue, and Jean. I know this is just my opinion, but I fee like the X-men at their core are greatest when the women shine, and as a child in the 90's no characters shined brighter for me than these three. I remember the other characters existing in the cartoon but not who they were or what they did (maybe Gambit). Storm, Rogue, and Jean are the trinity. They're icons.
