Like many people, I first saw Jay in Flash of Two Worlds, although I knew about him before that. I immediately thought the guy was cool, and that opinion only grew stronger as I read the annual JLA/JSA crossovers. By far my favorite take on him though was when he, Alan and Ted became the grandpas of the modern JSA team. Not my favorite Flash or elder Speedster, but he's still one of the greats.

That was the way it was for me as a kid. Across the board, I thought the JSA were cooler. These days...I still think that's true. Well, except for Aquaman.

I didn't think they were cooler, but definitely as cool.

More than any other character, Jay Garrick seems to embody the Golden Age of Comics.

Jay was the first Flash I saw via print (library book collection of famous Golden Age Superhero Origins.). Jay and Alan's were my favorites'

Dang it, DC, what is keeping you?
Parental care is way exhausting. Gained insight into what my parents went through when I was a baby. Not fun, but what ya gonna do? (Read comics, obviously.)

BTW Jay was absent from JLA #101 & #102, where did you first met him?

I'm still trying to figure that out for myself.

I'm assuming it was in a comic book I read of my older sister's, so possible candidates at that time could include:

(includes a reprint of first JLA/JSA meeting)

    or

    or

as well as a few other possibilities.

I love playing as Jay in Injustice 2.

I first encountered Jay in a JLA/JSA team up, "Crisis on Earth S".

Just a few months later he guest starred in an issue of Flash battling Abra Kadabra.

I always loved all the golden age characters but he was my favorite. Great costume! It was always a treat when he appeared in a story. Those JSA / JLA crossovers were the best!

I just love how earnest Jay is in that game. The lines are all-the-way cheesy, but he just sells it.

We got Jay back in The Flash #22 . . .

. . . only to have him taken away a few pages later.

Now we have to wait to see if/when DC may return him to stories on a more permanent basis.

I really liked Jay in Flash # 22. He looked good, played the hero really well, and was then unceremoniously ripped away in a couple pages. Nonetheless he added a lot to the issue.

I first saw Jay in the Greatest Flash Stories Ever Told, and also saw an issue where he battled the Golden Age Star Sapphire. (Whatever happened to her?)

I'm going to DragonCon for the first time this year. I was like well it's part of the experience to dress up, so I'm dressing as Jay Garrick the first and best Flash!

That's awesome, dude! I'd love to go to DragonCon one of these days, but I have no way of getting to Georgia.

You gonna be doing a young Jay, putting on old man make up, or, well, do you not need the old man make up?
