. . . only to have him taken away a few pages later.

And then in this year's Flash #50, we got:


Hopefully we'll get Jay back (alive and to stay!) in 2019
(though I'd love it to be sooner).

I recently read a fantastic Jay Garrick story by James Robinson. It took in his Shade mini series from 1997 in issue 3. Highly recommend if you have not already read it.

It makes the most sense.

I love Wally and all but he's not the leader type. He's kinda like Hal Jordan. High energy and thinks before he leaps. And NuBarry is just too unsure of himself and too depressed to fit that role.

Jay is always calm and collected and puts people at ease. And everyone already looks up to him.

Yes. The Flash family was awesome back then.

Correct, it's from Dead Heat, issue 110. It's actually the first Flash comic I ever got and one of the first comics I ever got in general. So it has a special place by me.

I have a question.

During the first 70 issues of Wally series, it was said many times that Jay was dead. Then, he reappears just before the beginning of Return of Barry Allen. I assume this is all releated with the JSA's disappearance and return after CoIE. What story was that?

Hmmm I don’t remember it being said he was dead. He appeared in several issues leading up to the return of Barry Allen. I will need to look back through my collection and see.
