A part of me has died inside when I read that panel.

Oh, and in my opinion, (and I hate to potentially derail the thread), I would actually consider that panel worse than the majority of some of the Marvel scenes you're referring too, because I don't think there is particularly anything wrong with Ms. Marvel or Spiderwoman or Squirrel Girl saying the word "Mansplaning" except maybe the word itself, because I don't think anyone at Marvel saying the word mansplanning would go against their character, but with Wonder Woman that's the contrary, because Wonder Woman is supposed to be very regal, it's sort of like Sherlock Holmes or Dracula saying the word mansplaning.

No, most stories do not sound like terrible fanfiction. A story about a heroic Joker talking about BLM and social justice and using it to defeat an evil Batman, while also pompously criticizing escapist superhero fiction, sounds like bad Tumblr fan fiction.

This was my most anticipated book and now I'm not sure.

First of all I'm in agreement with some of the others here, this sounds like a shitty modern day Marvel story with all the Black Lives matter, wage gap and other non sense Murphy spewed about the content. Who cares? who wants to read this crap in a Batman book? its an instant turn off. I dont want Trump Batman or Joker, I dont want talk about White privilege.

Secondly Murphy doesn't have the proven writing chops for a project like this.

Thirdly Murphy has almost zero knowledge about Batman and his world. His primary sources by his own admission are TAS and the films, he neither knows nor much cares about comic Batman.

Also he thinks he's going to do a deconstruction, well there's Alan Moore deconstruction and Zack Snyder deconstruction and this here feels more like the latter. For reasons I mentioned above.

Finally Joker, seriously enough of Joker already. The overexposure is bad as it is but now writers are giving away concepts that could have potentially worked with other villains and giving them to Joker. This could have easily worked with Anarky or Two-Face.

Catwoman wont be in it
He doesn't like Joker
But this is still a Joker story, he wanted it to be called Joker:White Knight
Dick Grayson will be in it as Nightwing
Large Bat family will be in it
Bane, Two-Face, Ivy, Croc, Roxy, Scarface and other villains will be in it.

Here's a good rule of thumb: if a top flight creator has a story they really, really want to tell, let them tell it. It's sure to be better than assembly line produced, 'because you demanded it!' fan service.
