Marvel Doesn't Think Female Characters Attract Players

Here's the known Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Roster for the Marvel Side (Venom and Black Panther are dlc, there might be more dlc in these):

Most of these were already confirmed, some are datamined.

Sure, I have to shell out another 15-45 bucks to play as the only character on the roster I'm really all that interested in using.

I wouldn't say it's too surprising, the Capcom side has always been more balanced in that regard(though it's not great this time around either, especially when you have character like Spencer and Chris), most of those characters seem like pretty expected picks given what characters they want to promote right now. Plus another thing is quite a lot of the female Marvel characters in the previous games were X-Men.

Honestly I don't think anybody on either side is happy with the roster.

Well, Capcom side onyl have 2 female characters too.


So far we have 4 female, 32 male characters.

Boohooohhooo I got to pay to play as a Black Character despite you know T'Challa having a movie coming out before Carol so cry me a river. And him being on the disc in the first place.


Granted no one thinks the roster for MVCI is anything to write home about.
The roster is too small mostly ported from MVC3 with minimal changes. And is missing ton of fan favorites on the Capcom side. And the marvel side...still lacking even if you just pull from the MCU. I mean come on Nova? Hawkeye? Just lazy porting. I mean I guess Hawkeye fills the archer niche....but really no Black Panther, No Black Widow, No Scarlet Witch, No Vision? No Loki? Winter Soldier? Falcon? Star Lord?

You could get like two more female characters pulling from the MCU.

Android 18 is going to be the only playable female in that one....unless they start tapping Super but I assume they safe that for DLC outside of like Hit.

Difference is that DB was never known for female characters, while Marvel and Capcom have plenty. Also, I was more talking about the game in general that looks a lot better than Infinite.

But let's be honest. Among the FGC, gameplay is king. If Black Panther plays like Wolverine, they won't care that Wolverine's not in the game, for example. Most who care about what characters are in the game likely won't seriously play the game past a couple months, but members of the FGC will. This game's catered to them, first and foremost, and I think despite Marvel's obvious limitations as to which characters will be used, Capcom will at least try to retain the gameplays of those lost if they're smart.

They have no desire to push TV characters in the games. So I'M not sure why you listed all those names when Wasp has a much higher chance than them for DLC, close to the movie.

Yeah, any sensible dev can easily give Wolverine's skillset to Black Panther, Mr Fantastic's to Ms. Marvel, and Rogue's to Captain Marvel.
