Do you think the green hood was a colouring error? It seems likely that someone just got it wrong and nobody bothered to correct them because it wasn't considered that important back then.

Funny how a lot of the way we see the characters is just a roll of the dice. Some flunky decides this should be that colour and then it becomes part of the lore.

It's been quite awhile since I read this, but I remember him having a green hood in the '92 Parobeck series. That's the only time I really felt it was done on purpose, as a minor tweak to fit in with Al's new costume, etc as a slight attempt at... Modernisation I guess? It just infuriated me every time I saw it, lol.

    I think I just made a mistake.

I thought it was Will Payton, but than I recalled that Ted Knight was in the Crisis, and I still own a JSA Special called Last Days of the Justice Society...so he was probably in there to I imagine.

Guess it's time to come up with a "Who Is Your Favorite DC Character called Starman?" soon . . .

Does Courtney Whitmore count? I never actually read any of the stuff with the previous users of the staff.

As far as I'm aware, she hasn't called herself Starman yet.

And it's not about users of the cosmic rod / staff; there were several others called "Starman" in the past who didn't have one.

I remember in one of the Robinson STARMAN comics there was a page which indicated all those past, present and future called Starman. This was where we got a hint that Danny Blaine would be a Starman in the near future (but not who Danny really was). And I believe that Courtney was still Star-Spangled Kid, but this page showed she would become Stargirl. There was also the Starman of 1951 (a retcon of Batman being Starman in 1957).

Also in ALL-STAR COMICS 15, revisited in STARMAN 69, Doris Lee dressed up as Starman. So Stargirl as Starman isn't impossible.

But Doris was sort of pretending to be Starman, not taking the identity of Starman as a long-term identity.

    And as I said,

Added emphasis maybe should have been on "yet"?

Well, if you want to get technical. But it seemed to mean a lot to Ted that Doris showed up for him as Starman. I think that's cool. Says something about him and how he felt about her and the Starman identity. Of course, that he assumes she'd be called "Stargirl" also says something about his 1940s mindset--it wouldn't occur to him that she would be a "Starwoman."

This is a poll / thread about people called "Starman". Not people sort-of-like a Star-person.

So, yes, I want to be technical.
