First one I read of was Ted Knight in an old Wonder Woman, back when her book was about adventures in Earth's 2 WWII, and I liked him immediately. First one I followed with a certain regularity was Ditko's Prince Gavyn over at Adventure Comics. But my favorite was the late 80's Roger Stern and Tom Lyle's Will Payton. I miss him so much. I liked Robinson's Jack Knight, however, IMHO, he, and none of the others, can't hold a candle to Will Payton.

He also was in the last issue (#10).

Beyond that . . . doesn't look like he was really involved beyond maybe a cameo / flashback appearance.
I loved so much this series. Something so pure and inoccent in a time of "extremes".

    Perhaps this story?

I love when DC did this around the same time the first season of the Wonder Woman TV show was on ABC and set during WWII.

Ted Knight! I've first read about him in All Star Squadron.

I've always had a deep affection for the original Starman.

.....There was an issue in the Superman line where, after Clark comes back to life, everyone gets together to have a funeral for Coast City. This was between "Return of Superman" and "Emerald Twilight" since Hal was still around. I don't remember if a Starman was in the background in that issue, but if there was one, that was the first Starman I ever laid eyes on.

However, Jack Knight is the first Starman I actually read about. And he remains a personal favorite. His book remains on my "Top 5" list right next to Planetary and All-Star Superman.

I know that James Robinson eventually connected Starman (Mikaal) with Shadow Lass (Tasmia Malor), in that they came from the same star system. Tasmia came from Talok VIII and Mikaal from one of the other planets, Talok III--so I'm guessing the star was called Talok.
Although Ted was the first I encountered, Mikaal was the first to have had a lasting impression on me. Again, I have to give James Robinson credit for that series which also reintroduced Mikaal and updated him for the 21st century.

In my case was a story of Prince Gavyn. And then I read about Will Payton and I was confused about this Starman. And then I learned about there were several Starmen.

    nextshould be the Manhunter list.

Imagine the confusion for anyone whose first STARMAN was Jeff Bridges in the 1984 movie. I'm still waiting on James Robinson to explain that one.

By 1984, I was old enough not to be "confused" by that.
