The first DC Sandman I remember hearing about was Dream, but I can't quite remember exactly where I first heard of him or saw him. When I wasn't as well versed in the DC mythos, I had actually thought Dodds and Dream were meant to be the same character. No, I don't really remember why I came to that conclusion either. It's all cleared up now, though.

Was Sandy's name really Sanderson originally? That seems a bit far to go for a nickname. In my day, people who had sandy coloured hair were called "Sandy." Going the extra mile to make him Sanderson sounds like they didn't understand "Sandy" being a regular nickname, so it had to be short for something.
