    New 52 Appreciation Thread!

The New 52 (also known as DC's Second Golden Age, the Kinotic Epoch, and That Which was Good) was truly a spectacular era in the publishing history of DC Comics, brought to an end to quickly. I fashioned this thread to delegate on such topics; why was the New 52 so great? why is it better than anything else published in human (and non-human) history? And finally what were your favourite stories!?

    List of stories I liked;

Action Comic by Grant Morrison, #0-18
    Aquaman by Geoff Johns, #0-25
Birds of Prey by Duane Swiercynski, #1-9
    Flash by Francis Manapul, #0-24
Frankenstein, Agent of Shade by Jeff Lemier, Matt Kindt #0-16
Green Lantern by Geoff Johns, #0-20
Justice League by Geoff Johns, #0-51
National Comics: Looker by Ian Edgington, #1
National Comics: Rose & Thorn by Tom Taylor, #1
    O.M.A.C. by Dan Didio, #1-8
Omega Men by Tom King, #1-12
Shazam! by Geoff Johns, Graphic Novel
Supergirl by Micheal Green, Mike Johnson #0-19
Wonder Woman by Brian Azzarello, #0-35

I might be missing some things...

List of Things Missing from Rebirth that Make it Truly Special Like The New 52:

    • Dead kids
    • Confusing continuity problems (wait a second...)
    • A new gimmick every September
    • Lack of gore and edginess overall

I liked the fact that it was a new era and new things could be tried out rather than trying to recycle and reprint the same stuff over and over.

Fair enough. I thought from that list of things "Missing from Rebirth" that most people would agree were bad traits about the Nu52, and the over the top praise you were laying on that this was just a troll move.

My mistake, and since I think the Nu52 is the worst thing to ever happen to DC, I'll be bidding you and this thread adieu.

I wouldn't mind a return of September gimmicks, I remember enjoying villains month.

    You mist:

Detective Comics by John Layman, #13-29
Swamp Thing by Charles Soule, #19-40
Batman & Robin by Peter Tomasi, #1-40

Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Frankenstein, OMAC, Demon Knights, Justice League Dark, Dial H, Action Comics, All Star Western, etc.

There were a lot of great books in the New 52 that people forget about because they're busy complaining about the changes made to certain characters.

    Titles that I really liked:
    Action Comics by Morrison
    Superman Unchained by Snyder
    Batman by Snyder
    Green Arrow by Lemire
    Aquaman by Johns
Green Lantern by Johns (Not that it changed a lot)
    Wonder Woman by Azzarello
    Flash by Manapul
    Batman & Robin by Tomasi
Talon by Tynion IV & Snyder
Batman Inc (Even though it should have stayed in the old continuity imo)

There are other titles that I liked, but those were the highlights imo, at least from what I read. I would've included Batwoman, but I only read the finale by Williams and Blackman

I don't think there are things that I miss, I prefer more the old continuity and the approach that Rebirth is doing to it, but I don't denied that there were a lot of comics that I enjoyed from the New 52

Batman and Robin by Tomasi and Gleason
Batman by Scott Snyder even if I criticize it all the time
