Oswald Cobblepot is actually my favorite Batman villain hell maybe even comics in general. It's a shame how often he gets overlooked for a lot of the Arkham loonies.

I think Penguin is often underrated and under looked. The main problem is people don't see him as a threat. Another problem people have is they don't think he's interesting. I personally prefer his more classic interpretation as the "Gentleman of Crime" over Batman Returns approach or the brutish thug in the Arkham games. Id even say where Joker mirrors Batman, Oswald mirrors Bruce Wayne.

Heck I find it interesting how he's been seen to run for public office in multiple incarnations. He could totally be the main baddie in a Batman movie, he's simply more of a cerebral threat, an eccentric criminal who is affable enough to rise up to a rank where he has the ability to turn Gotham back into the corrupted city it was before Batman's influence, undoing all the progress that Batman has done. He's a villain Batman can't just punch out. I think it was Penguin Triumphant where Batman said Penguin was even smarter than the Dark Knight himself...

While l listened to Fatman on Batman #49 Kev Smith says Philip Seymour Hoffman would have made a great Penguin, especially if he played him like his character in MI III. Hmmm...
Gotham's Robin Lord Taylor feels completely off from what I've glimpsed but I admit to like Arkham City's version with the London gangster accent. For me the Penguin is the only member of the Rogues who'd fit right in with the Godfather or Bordwalk Empire casts. Only a little smaller and with an odd looking nose.

I liked Penguin in Arkham City and his younger look in Origins, but i feel that he got the worst look in Arkham Knight. He was too generic and he didn't have something to distinguish him from ordinary mob bosses.

Always thought it a shame that "the Penguin Affair" was never collected in a trade

I don't like the Arkham City version because apparently, his monocle is the bottom of beer bottle jammed to his eyes? I think they said it's from a fight... and he decided to not take it off? What is up with that? Sometimes the Arkham games like to be edgy for no reason.

I like the characterization and the voice though.

I think thats an interesting connection though, turns out that Zsasz lost his fortune at one of Penguin's casinos in a card game with Penguin himself, Penguin cheated and Zsasz try stab Penguin with a broken bottle and thats how he got a piece of the bottle stuck in his eye. I think they said if they tried to get it out they would be major blood loss because its stuck in an artery or something.

Looks like somehow Oswald Survived that, he’s gonna be in King’s next arc after KGBeast however it appears he lost an eye, he’s wearing an Eyepatch on the cover, not his Monacle

Anyone else disappointed by the recent collection: Batman arkham- Penguin.
Whike there are a few important stories such as the first encounter and Return of the Penguin there are only 8 stories in total. Considering how many penguin stories exist I was expecting a lot more. The 5 page newspaper strip the man of 1000 umbrellas should definetly have been included but wasn't.

Sad to hear that. Haven't read my copy yet. Are there any good Penguin moments in the REBIRTH era so far?
