Even tho I first encountered Terry Sloane, I view Michael Holt as the rare case of a character taking over a name and vastly surpassing the original.

Hey, does anyone play DCU Online? Their forum has a thread where you recommend new styles for the game. The devs actually interact a lot, and a whole bunch of suggestions have made their way into the game. I've asked for some Mr. T gear but more posts would help make that happen.
Here's a question. Is Holt someone DC should try pushing into the A-list? They made a half-ass attempt with Cyborg (who I still think could take a real position in the top ranks, if done right) but could Holt pull it off where Vic has stumbled? How would you position him for something like that?
"We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another, as if we were one single tribe."
~ Black Panther.
If you want a good idea of who to try it-read Image's Prodigy mini series. A book that is going to be a Netflix show.
You would probably need to tone some of what Prodigy does with Holt.
Also Mystery Girl at Dark Horse was in the same vein.
Holt if done RIGHT could be the guy to counter that King from Wakanda.
Holt owns his own business and has unlimited resources. A Ryan Coolger could have a FIELD DAY with him.
I first read about the old Terry Sloane version (Justice Society / All-Star Squadron era) and thought he was super-dull, even by the standards of the day (when they had a bunch of masked heroes who were basically just two-fisted adventurers, sometimes with a gun or a gimmick).
Michael Holt and his T-spheres, on the other hand, is super-cool.
Michael Holt, IMO.
"So you've come to the end now alive but dead inside."
Terry Sloan. Sure enough, the first time I was introduced to him was the issue of Justice League where he died.
Shame on Paul Levitz and Gerry Conway, that's so cruel. They got us hyped for Mr. Terrific only to kill him off. Boo.
Currently, the numbers are* Michael Holt (1st appearance: Spectre #54, June 1997) = 47 votes (+4)
* Terry Sloane (the Golden Age Mr. Terrific) = 27 votes (+2)
* Liberty Files version of Terry Sloane = 2 votes
* Kingdom Come/Earth-22 version of Mr. Terrific = 1 vote (no change)
* "other" = 1 vote (no change)
Holt of course. I didn't even know there was a Golden Age Mr. Terrific until a few years later.
