Even tho I first encountered Terry Sloane, I view Michael Holt as the rare case of a character taking over a name and vastly surpassing the original.

Hey, does anyone play DCU Online? Their forum has a thread where you recommend new styles for the game. The devs actually interact a lot, and a whole bunch of suggestions have made their way into the game. I've asked for some Mr. T gear but more posts would help make that happen.

Here's a question. Is Holt someone DC should try pushing into the A-list? They made a half-ass attempt with Cyborg (who I still think could take a real position in the top ranks, if done right) but could Holt pull it off where Vic has stumbled? How would you position him for something like that?

If you want a good idea of who to try it-read Image's Prodigy mini series. A book that is going to be a Netflix show.

You would probably need to tone some of what Prodigy does with Holt.

Also Mystery Girl at Dark Horse was in the same vein.

Holt if done RIGHT could be the guy to counter that King from Wakanda.

Holt owns his own business and has unlimited resources. A Ryan Coolger could have a FIELD DAY with him.

I first read about the old Terry Sloane version (Justice Society / All-Star Squadron era) and thought he was super-dull, even by the standards of the day (when they had a bunch of masked heroes who were basically just two-fisted adventurers, sometimes with a gun or a gimmick).

Michael Holt and his T-spheres, on the other hand, is super-cool.

Terry Sloan. Sure enough, the first time I was introduced to him was the issue of Justice League where he died.

Justice League of America #171-172, from 1979.

Just prior to this story, Terry had shown up at the end of the Justice Society of America story in Adventure Comics #465.

Shame on Paul Levitz and Gerry Conway, that's so cruel. They got us hyped for Mr. Terrific only to kill him off. Boo.

Well, I'm assuming the blame goes more towards Gerry Conway on that one. (He wrote the JLA/JSA crossover.)

Justice League 171 is also one of the best covers in my opinion and it was also my first encounter of both the JSA and the death of major character in comics.

By the way, why the "IMO"?

This wasn't a question about best/favorite version of the characters, just

Holt of course. I didn't even know there was a Golden Age Mr. Terrific until a few years later.
