    But there was a (very brief) period when he was "The Flash", and that could have been the first one someone read about in a DC comic book.

    Adventures in the DC Universe (1997) #14, "Not Always to the Swift." Ostensibly set in the DCAU, but closer to the status quo at the time (Wally had been Barry's sidekick, there was a Superboy) than what would later come in Justice League.

    I'm pretty sure my first Flash comic was with Wally during the Black Flash storyline, but my introduction to the character was John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen in the 90s TV show.

    For me it was most definitely Wally in Morrison's JLA, then I slowly read John's and Waid's stuff after.

    Wally was the first for me, but he was still Kid Flash then. It was in the pages of the New Teen Titans. I honestly never read a story with Barry as Flash until Crisis #8
