Wally West.
First saw him in JLU then Morrison/Waid/Kelly JLA comics then picked up his ongoing comic (Just in time for it to be cancelled in anticipation of Rebirth. Nope. Not salty about that at all.).
I think the first Flash comic I ever read had Wally as the main character, but that same stack of comics also had both Walter and Barry as guest stars to Wally. Still, giving Wally his glory; he was the Main Flash.

Barry Allen. It was Crisis #8. My uncle had passed away and on the way home from the hospital my dad and I went to 711. He wanted to cheer me up and get me a slurpy and candy. I saw that cover to Crisis #8 and was blown away. The art, his costume and that line "THE FINAL FATE OF THE FLASH". I was hooked. Another uncle of mine owned a comic book store and he got me a bunch of Barry back issues. I read as many as I could and then got Wally's #1 when it came out. I love ALL the Flashes but Wally became my favorite and has been my favorite character since then.

Started with Wally West in Grant Morrison's JLA; then got into Wally West Flash comics somewhere around the tail-end of Mark Waid and the start of Geoff Johns.
Wally was the first Flash i was exposed to because the JL cartoon but Barry was the first Flash I read Blackest Night onward

Still don't seem to have anybody who first read Bart's brief run as The Flash . . .
For me, it was Barry Allen in the 1960s. Glad you put in a qualifier since I'm sure Wally was in the first Flash story I read but he was Kid Flash then.
Power with Girl is better.

Just bumping this up to see if anybody hasn't had a chance to vote yet . . .
I voted Wally because I am 40 years old. I know for a fact I was checking out Flash comics with Barry in them when I was young but I fell in love with Wally right away.

Well my words above were typed wrong. I apologize. Don't want to come off the wrong way and be bashed around here...
I saw comics at the age of 5 years old with Barry in them. I was not "reading" yet. I did not start "READING" The Flash till Wally was in it. That is why I voted Wally.
I never said Wally was my favorite. I never said Barry was my favorite. Why do people always have to go there?! I will never get that.
Your assumption is what ruined the DC boards over at DC Comics.com years ago.
