Well, since Wally was the main star of the book during the Terminal Velocity run, unless the issue featured way more Jay than Wally, I'd call it as Wally being the first.
(Wally's time as "Kid Flash" doesn't count for the purposes of this poll question.)

Barry Allen. Flash 323 was one of the first comics I bought with my own money at age 10. I think that was the issue right before he killed Reverse Flash.

Barry was the first I read about.

At the moment, Barry has the most votes with 36, while Wally is in second with 25 people saying he was the first version of "The Flash" they ever read about.

Of the Barry votes, I wonder how many first read about him before his return in the Flash: Rebirth series back in 2009?

I first read Barry Allen Flash at the tail end of his original run, just before the trial issues began.
Not great, but good enough to get me hooked on the Flash for life!

VERY historically significant issue of THE FLASH, whose consequences reverberate even now, almost forty years later. You picked quite a time to get aboard.

I got it back then and still own it. In some ways, that was the beginning of the Bronze Age Flash.

In some ways, you need to give that to me pls.

Seriously though these issues are so hard to track down. I can only find them digitally online.

I thought Bronze Age FLASH started when Barry ditched the bow ties and crew cut and began wearing turtlenecks and the Robert Redford haircut.

That's why I said "in some ways," BA. Visually, there was a big change, but the stories themselves weren't that different from what we has seen before the '70s. Man, that changed with this story. One of the toughest reads (Iris!) for me from that era, too.

I think the wilder Silver Age stuff was dialed down a *little* bit when the 1970s started (but yeah, not by that much...not like over in the BATMAN and SUPERMAN franchises at the time) and there was also an increasing focus on Barry and Iris's domestic life out in the suburbs of Central City.
