Fair enough that "designed" to be of two worlds is not the correct terminology, since he evolved into that. I stand corrected there. So I'll amend it to just that, he evolved into a character of two worlds. And it only added to his already immense popularity and helped turn him into a legend.

Turning away from that, to try and upstart a character who was in a temporary slump, eventually led to a more of a burial (it worked at first, I grant that, but it was a temporary kick start that had more pitfalls than positives in the end). One he still hasn't dug completely out of. I know what I'll take any day of the week.

Geoff Johns may no longer be reporting directly to DC.

This post seems to indicate that Geoff Johns no longer reports to DC President Diane Nelson, the person who oversees how DC operates in film, TV, games, comics – all media, but directly to Warner Bros, bypassing filters entirely. And while this past eighteen months, he has been hands-on regarding DC Rebirth across the comic book titles, that will no longer be the case. He may still work on comics, but more in the model of Doomsday Clock or Earth One, rather than the whole line.

Something I just caught from Adventures of Superman #496, one of the "Doomsday's fist" issues leading into the Death saga. Mxyzptlk comes for a visit and changes history so the world reveres him, while also taking over LexCorp and turning Superman into "Mxy Man" (among other alterations). Superman and Lex are the only two aware that history has been changed, but Lex has been left penniless living in squalor (and trapped in his old cancer-riddled body). As one of Mxy's goons comes to assassinate him, we get this very obvious Watchmen parody.

Interesting that this issue has a cover date of November 1992, exactly when "Doomsday Clock" is set to begin in the Watchmen Universe. It's enough to make me want to retcon this as Mxy warning them all that Manhattan is coming.

I don't understand the gluttony for punishment. Why keep up with something you don't expect to like?
