When Logan Comes Back: Should X-23 Still Be Wolverine?

OF COURSE HE SHOULD BE WOLVERINE. Sorry, this is not even a debate worth having.

Seriously how is she growing by taking someone else's legacy and he is still around doing the same thing... no honor going by that code name and the dude EVERYONE knows as Wolverine going by something else. Makes no sense.

This isn't to argue whether or not Logan takes the name again. This is if Laura stays Wolverine. Also how is she taking someone else's legacy, when SHE IS that legacy. She took on the name, because she felt as long as she wore cowl and mask, he would never be gone.

As well, she's made significant strides in her book becoming less of the near-emotionless, machine-like killer she was back when she started on the X-men and later joined X-Force. She's becoming more human (in good way).

The emotionless machine was much more of a Liu thing. While she was reserved and introverted under KYost she still had plenty of displays of emotion (see: Megan and Debbie, her breaking down in tears when confronting Logan in Target X, etc.).

With 616 Logan back I would think Laura wouldn't even want to keep the code name, she took it to honour him but now he's back she should take her own name. For while just go by Laura and take some time to find a code name that fits.

Maybe emotionless wasn't the right word. But I'd say throughout much of her being written, she's been shown as mostly reserved character (Except for that weird thing they did with her in ANX last year). Reserved in a way that was a product due to her upbringing and training. Not really pouring out her emotions whether it's anger, sadness, pain etc unless it's a moment that's very significant to her (Death of her mother, Sensei, Confronting Logan for the first time).

Wasn't there a rumor lasted awhile back that ANW will become sort of a buddy book with two Wolverines? Earlier ppl thought it would be OML + Laura, but now a team up book between the real Wolverine and NuWolverine?

Why a cheap knockoff would retain the title of the original after they return is beyond me. If they want her to do anything more than ride on Logan's coat tails she needs to find her own identity.

Did you just answer your own question on why she shouldn't be wolverine anymore when THE WOLVERINE returns?

The rest has nothing to do with the codename wolverine. Strides and growth should be growing into your own person and not keeping something that belongs to someone who now returned. That is the opposite of growth. If he returns "good as new" (no stupid limitation like they did with Cap giving up the title for Falcon Cap) everyone else now becomes redundant... X-23 would be better served forging her own path, if you really want to show growth.

BLUFF: He is returning for a reason, namely OML and the 12 or so characters trying (and failing) to fill his shoes just aren't cutting it. No disrespect, but she took a step back by falling into the same line as the guy before her.

Absolutely not. Let Laura have her own identity as X-23. Making her a legacy character diminishes who she was before. Same goes for Sam Wilson and I'm glad they're making him the Falcon again. Also, Logan's greatest wish for Laura was for her to have a normal life and not be like him. So it's kind of perverse to say that she's "honoring" him by taking up the mantle or becoming a second Wolverine. Also, ever since she's been the new Wolverine, she's had absolutely no personality and is amazing at everything. No struggles. Everything done with her as All-New Wolverine is a far cry from the character Kyle and Yost created.

Besides the whole meaning of the X-23 name in-story, Sam wasn't created as a Captain Amrica clone with the same powers as him, so it never even made half of the sense that it made for him to be Captain America that it made for Laura to be Wolverine.

Just because she's a clone doesn't mean that she isn't her own character. Besides, I'm tired of turning every superhero's name into a mantle or a title. It works for some like the Flash, but not Wolverine. Not Spider-Man. And certainly not Thor.
