James Bond, live and let die, as with all these Bond books from dynamite, I’m enjoying them immensely, but the book adaptations are another level

That's some serious reading goal...I read 2-3 issues at a time and it takes me a month to get through an omnibus.

I just finished the WW by Jimenez omni, enjoyed it quite a bit. Good stories and art, great follow-up to the Perez run. Now I'm reading Big Damn Sin City and Spider-Man omni #4. Been trying to make Spidey last cause it's so good I never want it to end. Give me #5 please!

I just finished the Superman Exile omnibus. It had its moments but overall relatively uneven. Reading Mark Waid’s Flash run currently.

Haha, I ended up doing other things so I read the first two JB WW volumes and about 20 Negation issues

I'm so looking forward to this but it's getting delivered to my parents house, so no idea when I agree, Dynamite has been great (some better than others for sure), but the novel adaptation (the one of two that I've read so far obviously) is fantastic. Have you read the older Bond comics? They are really hit and miss but it's interesting to read them.

    P.S. We seriously need a multi-quote button.

Never read any of the earlier comics or any of the novels, I was, as everyone is, aware of Bond, but was never really a fan until Craig, Connery was before I was born, Moore I found a joke and I don’t think I even saw a Dalton one.

I was expecting live and let die to be a modern take, but it seems to a straight adaptation of the novel (I’m guessing) set in the 50’s 60’s? I’m surprised it hasn’t been updated some what as they actually describe the black characters as negroes, which I found quite shocking.

Is this the order (so far) that the novels came out? Casino royale, live and let die?

It is indeed - I think the plan is all Fleming novels. Live and Let Die as a novel is notorious for that very reason, huge criticisms of racism - not that it’s the only example but certainly the most obvious. I seem to remember Van Jensen talking on a podcast about specifically having that discussion in meetings and wanting to avoid it, so I’m surprised that they have included the word in the graphic novel.

Finished the Prometheus / Aliens / AvP / Predator Fire & Stone and Life & Death collections, which were fun. In Life & Death, the various stories fit together more tightly (all in the hands of one writer).

Received the Injustice Omnibus last night and immediately started reading it. It's a real page turner.

I finished reading Silver Surfer: Parable 30th Anniversary Edition OHC by Stan Lee & Moebius. Great stuff! Moebius also did the lettering, and strangely it's a plus and a minus IMHO. The lettering is very very good but on the other hand it seems just a wee bit too large in particular with this larger than normal OHC. I'm probably being a bit finicky bit that was my first impression. There is some nice additional stuff such as other Marvel covers and posters. Elektra and Spider-Man are pretty exceptional. The dust jacket also folds out to be a big poster of these posters. I really appreciated and enjoyed reading "The making of...." by Moebius where he shares his thoughts on his drawing technique and how he went about putting together the Silver Surfer: Parable. Extremely interesting. I even shared some of it with my wife as we both enjoy sketching. Overall an excellent book.

I just finished the third John Byrne volume. I'm still not overly keen on the art (although I found myself not minding it nearer the end), but I loved the writing and I think that I will check out some of his other work. Possibly I've already read X-Men from him...

Finished the Injustice Omnibus in a couple of days (fantastic!) and read the Uncanny X-Men Masterworks Vol 10 over the weekend (Yay for Claremont's X-soap ), which was also great. I really missed the X-Men, can't believe I haven't read anything since 2017.

Therefore tonight I will continue X-Men in The Gift Epic Collection.
