Trying to decide on whether to start Tales of the Dark Multiverse, or Invincible Compendium 1 next.
Well Tales From The DC Dark Multiverse is a pretty quick read. Knock that out before you tackle Invincible

Still on Absolute Watchmen, about to start chapter XI. Now that I have hundreds of collected editions under my belt, I can really appreciate much more what an achievement it really is. There are a lot of things about the art and the storytelling, that I can appreciate now but did not notice when I read it first in 2009. Back then, I had basically not read any American comics and did not understand how this must have hit like a bomb at the time. Still think that V for Vendetta is just a little better though as it's a more tightly plotted story.

[rant] Have to say that sadly, this is another example of crappy Absolute construction as again the glue holding the signatures is breaking despite me stretching the spine as recommended. I have read a great many DC Absolutes and absolute-sized books from other publishers (e.g. Image) and I think more often than not, the binding is just not strong enough to support the weight. I've had serious binding issues on Transmetropolitan 2, which I may have successfully repaired, but Absolute V for Vendetta the glue first detached and then broke into several pieces. I have attempted a repair several times but it's too damaged. Other Absolutes, like my Transmet 1+3 are fine, as are all the Preacher Absolutes. My first print Swamp Thing seems fine but I'm actually afraid to read it. The worst offenders are the Remender Image OHCs, where every volume of Black Science and also one volume of Deadly Class had issues. I also had issues with the binding on Dark Horse's Fear Agent, while all the other big DH books are fine. It seems like you need to be lucky to get a good one... However, given the price tag (especially for Absolutes) I really find this unacceptable. There are other companies out there that can produce perfect Absolute sized books with 400+ pages and have them be stable (e.g. Humanoids). [/rant]

EDIT: I just counted and I own 40 Absolutes, 4 of which have crappy binding. That's 10% and way too much given what they cost. Plus the number may actually be higher as I haven't even read all of them yet.

Stargirl TPB (Stars & STRIPE series)

Wife and I binged the new Stargirl series and we loved it. She’s not even a comic person.. then I realized I never read the source material (all I know of her is from JSA). As soon as I’m done with this, it’s off to the three JSA Omnibuses (omnibi?). I read them as individual issues back in the day... and I have the trades.. but I loved the stories so much I have the Omnibuses as well.

Have finished Hellraiser Omnibus by Boom Studios, Harleen and Absolute Daytripper recently. Currently reading the Girls’ Last Tour manga as well as Berlin by Jason Lutes.

I hated Hellraiser to be honest. The plot is laughably thin. None of the characters are interesting. If you enjoy random torture porn and a nonsensical plot go for it. Only recommend for diehards of the film franchise.

Harleen was brilliant. Stjepan Sejic crushed it with his phenomenal artwork and psychological deconstruction of Harley. What an origin story for her. In his hands, she becomes a tragic character and it’s a pleasure to witness her disintegration as well as the beginnings of her abusive relationship with the Joker.

Absolute Daytripper was absolutely incredible. I made it to the end without crying but the tail end got me. I’ll leave it to readers to discover as I don’t want to spoil anything. It’s a graphic novel quite unlike many others in the sense that it’s about every day life (friendship, family, dreams, living every moment to the fullest, etc) and that’s enough. Sometimes that is the most resonant stuff. I felt this calm reading it. It’s one of those rare books that made me reflect on my own life and resonated very deeply. I can see it having different meanings depending on when you read it and where you are at in your life at any given point. I give my highest recommendation.

I just finished volume 2 (of 6) of Girls’ Last Tour. It’s okay. So far pretty indifferent about it. Berlin is much more interesting to me. Nice black and white artwork by Lutes that serves its purpose and makes you feel like you’re in Berlin at the tail end of the 1920s right before Hitler’s rise to power. I’ve probably only finished 10% or so of it but looking forward to continuing with it as I’m certainly interested in the historical period. It’s a dense but rewarding read.

I read Dayripper recently (not the absolute edition) and I whole heartedly agree, it is a wonderful read. It's on my 'instant recommend' list now.

Daytripper is amazing. One of the best reads I had this year and I had a lot of killer books.

Ex Machina, I’m enjoying it (read it before as singles) and it feels like I’ve been reading it for ages but I’m still only halfway through, it’s one big book

Just finished Fraction's Jimmy Olsen (really enjoyed it), now I'm rolling through his run on Iron Man (just finished Most Wanted v2). Quite the contrast, but lots of ideas just kind of floating through both books.

Hope you’ll enjoy Scalped. It’s one of my top reads of the year.

Just started on Kill or be Killed. Brubaker/Philips can do no wrong and this one starts promising enough. They are joined here by Elizabeth Breitweiser on colours, who manages to make Philips’ artwork look even better. She also did the colours on The Fade Out, which is my favourite Brubaker book so far. Although it’s a bit like having to pick your favourite child

I haven't read Kill or be Killed but I loved The Fade Out and Fatale so I will have to give it a go.

And I am thoroughly enjoying Scalped already! Aaron has a real knack for writing these gritty, rough around the edges type characters for sure.

Just finished Black Science Premiere HC Vol 3. Absolutely loved every issue of the entire series and am sad to see it end. Just purchased the entire Paper Girls series so that is next on the list once they arrive.

Finished Bone b&w one volume edition and loved it. I will read the color edition in about a year.
Finished last week-end The Complete Life and Times of $crooge McDuck and loved it too... so much that I ordered all the Fantagraphics Don Rosa Library HC Box Sets without caring for the double dips there will be. Wanted all the Don Rosa stories.

Wiil be reading Umbrella Academy Library Editions next.
