Almost through the first Harrow County Omnibus. Similar Southern Gothic horror vibe that Hillbilly had, but at the same time a very different book.

    Wonder Woman Earth One
    Volumes 1-3
    Grant Morrison
    Grade: C+

    WWEOne.jpg

This has been the weakest of the Earth One series so far. I previously read Superman and Batman which both got higher marks. Morrison started strong with volume 1, he did a solid job of creating the origin of all things WW. Volume 2s direction took the story downhill through volume 3. The one creative twist done was to make Maxwell Lord a human shell for Ares.

The narrative of submission by "loving force" is also not much different than many dictators who claim to be destroying a nation and its people to only make them better under their rule. The love mission of Themyscira seems perverted in this tale.

On to Green Lantern Earth One v.1

The Green Lantern volumes were my favorites of the ones I read. I didn't read every volume of each character but I read at least the first on all of them. Those that didn't resonate with me, I didn't bother with the later volumes, but GL, I would have kept reading of there were more volumes by the same team. Hardman and Beckho nailed it for me.

That hearkens back to WW creator William Moulton Marston's, shall we say, "interesting" personal life.

    Blackwood Vol. 1

It's an alright horror miniseries. Not as entertaining as Dorkin's Beasts of Burden series but it scratches my itch for something creepy. What really elevates it is Veronica Fish's artwork. It's perfect and so vibrant!

Nemo-river of ghosts. Kevin O'Neil is really underrated.

Man, I really want to do a top to bottom LoEG re-read, including Nemo. I never even read Tempest but have had the hardcover for years now.

    One day...

Hope Dorkin and Fish are working on more Blackwood. So many questions are left unanswered and I just really like the cast and want to see what they're up to next

I’ve finished Captain America White by Loeb and Sale - fun, entertaining

I’ve now started Hearts of Darkness (Ghost Rider/ Punisher/ Wolverine)
