That Elektra omni is pretty crazy. I read it recently and realized I had read it when I was much younger (probably too young), but it's still kind of shockingly dark. I personally liked it quite a bit, but the Miller/Janson DD omni is my favorite.

I'm almost done with FF by Byrne vol. 2; I actually enjoyed this more than the first omni. Mainly because of She-Hulk, who brings some needed freshness to the series, but there's also some actual character development in this volume. I was bored stiff reading the first book - very one-dimensional characters and not much drama either. Galactus and Dr. Doom were the best parts, and of course the beautiful art. Not sure if I liked vol. 2 enough to re-buy omni 1, but I'm glad I read them.

I'm also reading Tomb of Dracula omni, finished issue 12. This has been a huge surprise, much better than I anticipated. Starts strong and then slows down a bit, but I'm excited to read the rest. The art is fantastic, the premise interesting and the stories and characters have been much fuller than I thought it'd be. The only Dracula in Marvel comics I'd encountered before was in the Uncanny X-Men issues he guest-starred in, and I didn't care much for those.

Oh Balakin, I fear you may stay gone for too long and we shall all descend into chaos. I'm imagining a The Walking Dead style apocalypse, without at least one real adult around :P

Aw guys! Appreciate the concern but we are still around (both me and SJNeal). I didn't post as much because I kinda fell out of the buying and lately the reading habit too, but I'm reading all the posts!

The former is a good thing, I really just focus on the stuff I really really want. Since my last haul in April I've only got new releases and basically accumulated a haul in 4-5 months that's the size of my old monthly hauls, if that.

For the reading, I think I have to blame Invincible a bit, after that I went through the last volume of Ms Marvel and then got stuck on the post Carey Hellblazer (it's alright but not Carey level). Invincible was such a rush it burned me out a bit, now I'm just binging a lot of series and movies and rediscovered my love for playing music which also takes up some time (and money).

But got the freshly released Culbard Lovecraft adaptations hc which I'm planning to read very soon! Looks perfect for the spooky season.

I'm the same. I've read two books this month and no comics... I think in my case it is partly because I'm reading so much for work just now that when I get home, I just do other things...

And if we are being honest, I’m kinda bored with most stuff, I have loads to read and I really can’t be bothered, I have taken to selling stuff that still has the cellophane on it as it really isn’t interesting me at the moment, decided to stop buying any Valiant stuff now, pretty much the only stuff I have any interest in is the Hellboy/BPRD stuff, time to quit?

I don't think it is that dire. I think having a constant stream of new books to collect and read is only sustainable for so long. I think consolidating your time and money on what you want is healthy. You can not read for a while and just dig into the really good stuff when the mood hits again.

As an example I use to play video games a lot more, but I haven't committed much time to them or even finished one all year. I know that will change when Sekiro & Doom Eternal come out next year, so I'm not feeling any rush. Just read what keeps your interest.

I agree with this. I've stopped reading before for like 6 months after I've moved to Scotland. It's healthy to take a break sometimes.
Also it's easier to socialise when you do other stuff than just read comics because most people don't but everyone watches something on Netflix. (To be fair, I love movies, documentaries or a good series just as much as comics and it's hard to binge read a 100+ issue series, use my Odeon card often and binge watch Daredevil season 3 and Making a murderer season 2 within the same weekend. And then when I go to work people won't ask me about Hellblazer, they want to chat about the new Halloween instead).

    btw
here are some pics of the Lovecraft hc if anyone is interested.
It's a bit shorter than a trade but it's thick and cheap. The art style is kinda cartoony but that's right up my alley. Wanted to read these for ages now (never actually read any Lovecraft before...I know, I know)

These days I may read 1-4 issues or so at night before bed. Sometimes more if it is newer quicker to read comics. That's the only time I really have time to read. I was reading a lot this summer to finish up a bunch of unfinished omnibus'. I didn't want to start anything new until I finished a bunch of them.
Taking a break or slowing down for a period in any hobby is a good thing.

I'm reading X-23 Complete Collection Vol.1 right now. Never read these stories and I'm liking it very much!! Read the first 5 issues so far. Will get Vol.2 very soon. I'm a fan of Laura but only read the entire All-New Wolverine issues and some Nyx but never the origins and older stories.

I reccomend the New X-Men run by Kyle and Yost that picks up right after their work on the mini's and specials. After that Yost wrote X-23 in X-Force but I never read those since I didn't like the art but I hear it was good. The Liu ongoing series comes after all of those.

I wish they had done her appearances in order instead of skipping ahead to the 2010 series.

Will post more pics tomorrow but you can just Google culbard and Lovecraft.
Read the first story yesterday it was good but kinda dated but still it was an engaging read. But the talking cats were kinda weird.

Just finished Reggie and Me by Tom DeFalco and Sandy Jarrell from Archie Comics. Reggie Mantle's mischievous personality and elaborate pranks have always been a highlight for me so I love that he finally received a mini-series after soooo many years. A quick-read that highlights Reggie's faults or strong points (depends on who you ask ) and his best buddy, Vader.
