It should be no surprise that I'm going to say Frank Miller's Daredevil. To me, it's such a strong, driven story full of interesting characters. I'll also point out that people think of it as dark, but I could re-read it just for the little scenes of humor or background whimsy that are just fun (I mean, Turk diving out of the window of Josie's because he's afraid Daredevil would throw him out of that window is hilarious).
I'll also add a couple of other obvious ones: Walter Simonson's Thor (which covers every possible type of Thor story - cosmic, fairy tale, epic quest, silvery age cheese, etc. and masters it). Storylines? I'm partial to the first Dark Elf story arc about the Casket of Ancient Winters (which has a wonderful Noir feel to it). I also love Thor's journey into Hel and Scourge's Last Stand.
Finally, I would suggest Claremont's Uncanny X-Men, but I also feel that needs to broken down further by artistic pairing because I don't think that's a great era of X-Men, I think it's great eras of X-Men.
Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother
I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!
Thomas More - A Man for All Seasons

The whole surfur vs terrax and trial of reed story. Lots of fun and showed how great the fantastic four could be.

Also loved the sin-eater death of jean dewolf story from spider-man. 80s had some great spidey stories.

Yeah he debut just a mere month before the 80's & the characterisation for the cast was wonky but still this was a pretty impressive thing for Marvel I. The 80's
Miller's Daredevil
Clarmont and Byrne's Uncanny X-Men
Englehart's West Coast Avengers
Byrne's Fantastic Four and Alpha Flight
Stern's Spider-Man and Avengers
Starlin's Death of Captain Marvel
Simonson's Mighty Thor
Michelinie's Iron Man
The 80s was my Golden Age for comics. We shan't see the like again.
Claremont's Uncanny X-Men - (Dark Phoenix Saga, the Japan issues with Paul Smith art and most everything through the Australian Outback era)
Walt Simonson's Thor (standout- Casket of Ancient Winters, Ragnarok and Roll (candidate for best title ever!))
Byrne's Fantastic Four (standout- Trial of Galactus)
Spider-Man in the 80s (Roger Stern, Peter David, Black Suit, Black Cat featured in Spectacular, The Wedding, Venom)
Just discovering Peter David's Hulk. Never a fan of the Hulk but David's writing is solid and laced with enough humor. Hulk seems more articulate at times, I've always disliked the 'brain-less monster' aspect of the character.

Recently read Kraven's Last Hunt and really liked it.
Byrne's Alpha Flight
Claremont's X-Men
and Jo Duffy's Saga of Crytar
Simonson's Thor. The ragnarok run. One of my favorite scenes in any medium when Odin says "For Asgard",. Thor says "For Midgard", and Loki says "For myself." Loved it. Makes me smile every time I think about it.
Reality is for those who are afraid of science fiction.
